Having run out of coffee this morning, I was “forced” to walk to the coffee shop on 5th Street for my cup of joe. Here are a few snapshots from my walk. Lucky for me – I ran out of coffee beans or otherwise I might have missed the flowers of spring…

Since the gym was closed, I thought my workout tonight would be shoveling snow. Other than a few chirping birds and a stumbling drunk who remarked, “damn… those are some mighty clean walks bro,” the neighborhood was pretty quiet. Taking advantage of the magic hour lighting, I snapped a few photos around the neighborhood.

It was interesting to find a downspout, shaped like a fish, that was about as full of winter as I am.

Ohio's Oldest Pharmacy

Between a bakery and a bank, this sign marks the spot of Ohio’s oldest pharmacy in Hillsboro, Ohio. The location is now an antique offering advertising signs and pharmacy collectibles. Looking through the windows, it looks like the last pharmacist just turned off the lights back in 1964 leaving more then 100 years of store in place.

Google street views are not available for Hillsboro to confirm, but this should be the correct information about the store.

Whiskey Ginger Ale Cocktail

Start with large rocks glass filled about 1/2 full with crushed ice.

2 oz Whiskey – Phillips Union
1 couple of slices of fresh ginger (I used a veggie peeler)
1 teaspoon simple syrup (season to taste as they say)
Splash Cointreau
Fill with Boylan ginger ale (about 4 to 5 ounces depending on the size of the glass)

Stir – Enjoy.

Next time I make this I’m going to try it with Bourbon – Woodford Reserve perhaps.

First attempt using the new app for iPhone called Pano The interface is a little clunkly in terms of trying to align the edges especially in bright light, but for a $10 app, it’s a lot of fun. Looking forward to taking many a pic!

Like thousands of Americans, I too had my time with Flat Stanley. Since Dayton is Birthplace of Aviation, Stanley got to see the sights of the world famous aviators.
